The Webstricken Nadeln
The What? Well that’s German for Weave Needle. I bought some from Skacel when I was ordering their needles. I thought it was something different but when they came in, I thought they were kind of neat.

Then customers started asking us how to use it and I finally decided to spend a couple of hours figuring it out. Actually I asked Elspeth to try it out and she looked at the German/English instructions and claimed she was too sleep deprived to figure it out. Since I couldn’t get her to do this, I had to do this myself.
The needles basically have a hole in them and are attached to these tubes that you can thread yarn through. So, when the needle is threaded it looks like this

You can thread the two needles with two different colors and then pick a third color for the yarn you’re going to knit with. Long story short, this is what you get

And a number of threads hanging around – they drove me a little crazy. The resulting fabric is a bit heavy and would do very nicely for blanket. You have to keep the tension uniform though. This is going to take a little bit of practice and might be worth more if you have a wider width of fabric. Now I am considering whether a darker color outside with a lighter color inside might now look better. Then someone suggested ribbon inside and wool outside but that’s a topic for another days blog.
