Nine Rubies Knitting has just won the Best Arts and Crafts Store on the Peninsula!!

Thank you for voting for us - this is a award based on people voting for us in the Best of 2006 Inside Bay Area Survey. I shamelessly asked for you vote back in September and you responded to the plea - thank you!

Tha San Mateo County Times called me and let me know that we had won in the Arts and Crafts category - Yeah!! There was much cheering at Nine Rubies. For complete results of the survey, check out the complete listings.

Erica wrote to me that she went a step further and asked the San Mateo County Times to create a Yarn Store category for next year. This had a great unintended consequence - but that’s a story for another time.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Mark Your Calendars: the Author of Bestselling Knitting Book is Coming to Nine Rubies!!

Just one week after our book signing with The Dominitrix, Jennifer Stafford, we will be joined by the co-author of one of the most talked about knitting books of the fall. Mel Clark is coming to Nine Rubies on the 3rd of December from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Knit 2 Together Book Cover

Mel Clark is the owner of the Wild Fiber store in Santa Monica, which happens to be Tracey Ullman’s local yarn store. We just received the book at the store - so come quick and get your copies before we are all sold out. The designs are great - we especially love the sweater - sooo feminine.

Pretty Sweater

So, isn’t it great that you’re going to get a chance to talk to the Mel Clark and see the trunk show and hear about her experiences of being a store owner (you know we’re going to love this part), and….., and…., and anything else your little heart desires to know about her.

Baby Poncho Design

So, mark your calendars because she will be here on December 3rd from 2 m to 5 pm. In order to get a sense of the quantities we need to order, we’re asking that you pre-order the book if you will be coming to the signing (or if you just want a copy). Please stop by the store or call us if you are interested. We’ll have extra copies of the book at the event if you don’t want to pre-order. Of course, you are more than welcome to come to the event even if you don’t order the book.

Cool Bag from the book

If, by some sad chance you’re busy and cannot make it, perhaps you can console yourself by listening to a great interview with Tracy Ullman on NPR
