Our first fall shipment of Malabrigo Yarns has arrived. Beautiful colors for fall - just simply gorgeous. Incredibly soft hand-dyed yarns with great value - People are always surprised when we tell them that each skein of the worsted weight is an incredible 215 yards.
With names like Stonechat and Purple Magic, who could possibly resist these colors in Malabrigo Worsted

This yarn is clearly a staff favorite. Melissa and Sudha have knitted beautiful blankets for people they love - get their free pattern if you want to make one too. Jocelyn has knitted the two-toned ribbed shrug from the Fitted Knits book. Dolores is getting started with her project as her yarn arrived with the fall shipments. Local Author Alison Hyde has written a truly lovely and touching lace shawl book called Wrapped in Comfort. The book is comprised of personal stories and the shawls that evolved as a result of them. There are many different styles and levels of difficulty in the book, so lace newbies and experienced knitters alike will surely find patterns to knit and wear with pride.
Alison will be here for a book signing on Saturday, August 18th from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Shell be talking about some of the stories in the book and showing her beautiful designs. We’ll have copies of the book in the store available for purchase.
Please note that Alison has some serious health issues. Please don’t come if you have a cold. We’ll be happy to arrange for her to sign your book, and you can pick it up after the event. Lucky for us, Alison’s health issues haven’t impacted her wonderful sense of humor and charm!

One of the hottest (and most fun) knitting books of the summer is the book Charmed Knits - patterns based on the Harry Potter books and movies. As you undoubtedly know, the final book is coming out in July and the movie based on Book 5 will also be out soon. There will surely be lots of demand for the scarves, socks, sweaters and hats that are throughout this book. We’ve also got all the colors of Cascade 220 that are used for the scarves and hats that correspond to the different houses. In case you were wondering, there are also patterns for adults, including a classic V-Neck sweater with optional house colors.
We’ve really enjoyed the Manos Block-of-the-Month club that we’ve had going this year, so we’d like to announce the (free) Charmed Knits Knitalong. Feel free to choose any pattern from the book that you like. We’ll have bi-weekly meetings on Thursday evenings, beginning Thursday, July 19th, from 5-7 pm. We’re anxious to see what everyone chooses!
Here’s the complete schedule:
July 19th, August 2nd, August 16th, August 30th, September 13th, September 27th, October 11th, October 25th.
Come catch Harry Potter fever with us! The book is in the store already. Yet another reason to stop by!
